Description For Staff Software Development Engineer - Cameras

Metalenz, a pioneering Boston-based startup emerging from Harvard University research, is revolutionizing the imaging industry with their groundbreaking metasurface technology. They're seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to spearhead their camera software stack development, particularly for their innovative PolarID product - a cutting-edge polarizing camera enabling secure and affordable face unlock for smartphones.

The role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of camera systems, working with state-of-the-art technology at the intersection of hardware and software. You'll lead the technical architecture and development of camera-centric applications, working with mobile SoCs like Snapdragon, and optimizing performance across various processors (CPU, GPU, DSP).

This position combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in real-time C/C++ software development, image processing, and system architecture. You'll collaborate across teams, from optics to machine learning, ensuring optimal system performance while managing cost and power consumption.

The company offers an attractive compensation package including pre-IPO stock options and comprehensive benefits. Located in downtown Boston near TD Garden, Metalenz provides a dynamic startup environment that values innovation and autonomy. Their mission to bring new ways of seeing and sensing to billions of people offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in consumer electronics.

As a key member of a fast-growing team, you'll have the chance to influence product direction, mentor other engineers, and help scale the technology from concept to mass production. The role is ideal for someone who combines technical expertise with leadership skills and wants to be at the forefront of imaging technology innovation.
