Description For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is seeking a Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services. This role involves working with a large global portfolio of over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on datacenter operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Empowering a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of datacenter activities
  • Understanding the design and functionality of datacenters
  • Supporting 24x7x365 on-site datacenter operations and mechanical infrastructures
  • Acting as the technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems and designs
  • Collaborating with Operations and Design teams on datacenter mechanical designs
  • Establishing and coordinating maintenance & safety procedures for cooling and backup electrical systems
  • Assisting with supplier selection and overseeing mechanical supplier execution

The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 2+ years of related technical engineering experience (or 1+ years with a Master's degree). Field experience is essential, and the ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background checks is required.

Requirements For Critical Environment Mechanical Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 2+ years related technical engineering experience, OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND 1+ years related technical engineering experience
  • 1+ years of Field experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
