Description For Fiber Delivery Engineer

Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is seeking a Fiber Delivery Engineer to join their Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team. This role is crucial in building world-class network infrastructure, working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits. The position offers flexible workplace arrangements with up to 100% work from home options.

As a Fiber Delivery Engineer, you'll be part of the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. You'll work within a massive global infrastructure spanning over 200 datacenters in 32 countries, supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses worldwide.

The role combines technical expertise with project management, requiring skills in AutoCAD, GIS solutions, and experience with Dark Fiber Outside Plant Projects. You'll collaborate with external suppliers and internal teams, manage construction schedules, conduct quality assurance inspections, and ensure compliance with Microsoft Core Fiber Standards.

  • Frontline technical project management with external suppliers
  • Communicating status and producing reports to cross functional teams and Leadership
  • Managing risks and producing mitigation options
  • Conducting quality assurance inspections
  • Managing remediation activities with supplier
  • Reviewing Flexible Connection Results and ensuring compliance with Microsoft Core Fiber Standards

Requirements For Fiber Delivery Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS solutions
  • Experience in managing Dark Fiber Outside Plant Projects
  • 25-50% travel required
