Language Engineer

At Microsoft AI, we're revolutionizing technology through our work on Copilot and other AI products. We're seeking a detail-oriented Language Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of AI interaction.

The role combines technical expertise in language engineering with hands-on work with Large Language Models. You'll be part of a collaborative environment working alongside data scientists, AI researchers, engineers, and designers to improve Copilot's language capabilities.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Analyzing language datasets to drive product improvements
• Creating structured classifications for language data
• Developing training materials for data labeling
• Engaging in prompt engineering for AI models
• Contributing to Copilot's product strategy

You'll be working in Microsoft AI (MAI), a newly formed organization focusing on consumer AI products and research. The team combines world-class AI research with excellent design and product development, responsible for products like Copilot, Bing, and Edge.

This position requires local presence in the San Francisco area with 3 days per week in the office. The role offers competitive compensation ($127,200 - $208,800 for SF Bay Area) and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, and investment options.
