Description For Member of Technical Staff, Platform Engineer

Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking experienced Platform Engineers to help shape the next wave of capabilities for their personal AI, Copilot. This role is focused on building user-facing features powered by Generative AI at the core of the Copilot experience. The position involves full ownership of feature development from inception through delivery, working closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, design, and AI research.

The role is based in Mountain View, CA, requiring 3 days per week in office. As a Platform Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and maintaining AI Platform services, ensuring their security, performance, and scalability. The position requires expertise in infrastructure and platform engineering, with a strong focus on building scalable services on cloud infrastructure.

The compensation is competitive, with a base pay range of $127,200 - $250,200 for the San Francisco Bay area. Microsoft offers comprehensive benefits including healthcare, educational resources, savings and investments, parental leave, and generous time off.

Requirements For Member of Technical Staff, Platform Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2 years technical engineering experience
  • Experience leveraging generative AI technologies
  • 4 years experience building APIs, platforms, and pipelines for large-scale products
  • 4 years experience building scalable services on public cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with RDBMS and key-value stores
  • Experience with Machine Learning frameworks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
