Description For Principal Security Assurance Engineer

As a Principal Security Assurance Engineer in the M365 Security Team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring Microsoft's productivity applications and services remain secure and trusted worldwide.

The role combines technical leadership with security architecture expertise, focusing on protecting Microsoft's extensive user-facing services, including cutting-edge AI platforms. You'll be responsible for driving secure engineering practices, guiding teams on security best practices, and contributing to the evolution of security solutions that protect Microsoft's vast customer base.

Working in the M365 product portfolio, which includes some of the world's most widely used productivity applications, you'll help secure services that impact billions of users. The team embraces a Growth Mindset approach, constantly learning and adapting to new security challenges through various inputs including bug bounty reports, penetration tests, and customer feedback.

Responsibilities For Principal Security Assurance Engineer

  • Driving Secure Engineering policies, practices, and tooling across user-facing services at Microsoft, including AI platforms and implementations
  • Helping guide Engineering Teams across Microsoft on security best practices
  • Collaborating with teams across Microsoft to help define the state of the art for detection, prevention, and elimination of security risks
  • Identifying emerging security problems that need additional focus, and contributing to building solutions to solve them, often utilizing AI
  • Mentoring others inside and outside of Microsoft on building secure platforms and systems
  • Plan and manage an expanding portfolio of security and privacy programs and track associated metrics
  • Create and present plans to management for driving security and privacy objectives across M365 services
  • Represent Microsoft in various customer briefings and security conferences

Requirements For Principal Security Assurance Engineer

  • 7+ years experience in software development lifecycle, cyber security, OR anomaly detection
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Networking, Information Assurance, Cyber Security, Mathematics, Risk Management, or related Field
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • Preferred: 5+ years experience in Red Teaming, Penetration Testing, Security Architecture Reviews (SDL/c), Vulnerability Research
