Description For Security Assurance Engineer

Microsoft Security is seeking a Security Assurance Engineer to join their CISO Operations Organization's Continuous Security Validation & Assurance (CSVA) team. This role is critical in protecting Microsoft's information assets and ensuring compliance with security standards.

The position involves leading cross-functional teams to facilitate "get green" remediation projects, focusing on legacy implementations, assurance gaps, and vulnerability management across Microsoft's internal assets. You'll work with Security Engineers, Risk Analysts, and Business Leaders to reduce risk and implement robust security controls.

Key responsibilities include identifying and addressing security compliance gaps, developing guidance for vulnerability resolution, and managing cross-organizational projects. The role requires expertise in cloud security across hybrid environments and the ability to respond to cybersecurity incidents.

The ideal candidate brings together:

  • 5+ years of experience in security assurance or engineering
  • Strong project management and program governance skills
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and cloud security platforms
  • Experience in developing security automation using Python or similar languages
  • Excellent communication skills for working with middle management and senior leadership

Responsibilities For Security Assurance Engineer

  • Identify and address underlying causes of security compliance gaps
  • Assess, draft, and distribute targeted messaging to impacted users and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with SMEs and Service Owners to identify and validate viable alternatives
  • Organize support resources and develop troubleshooting guides
  • Provide subject matter expertise in security issues, tools, mitigations, and processes
  • Work 12x7 on-call shifts on a rotating schedule

Requirements For Security Assurance Engineer

Python
  • 5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Risk Management, Cyber Security, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in security assurance, risk management, or security engineering
  • 5+ years project management & program governance skills
  • 5+ years of experience using structured data tools
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud security and securing hybrid environments
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check
  • Citizenship verification required
