MoxiWorks, a leader in developing web-based tools for real estate professionals, is seeking an Engineering Manager for a strategic, innovative project. This 'player/coach' role (75% hands-on, 25% leadership) reports to the VP of Engineering and requires strong leadership and technical skills in Rails and React.
The position is based in the Bellevue/Seattle area with a hybrid work model. Initially, in-person expectations are 1-2 weeks per quarter for Technology Quarterly Planning, with potential increase to 3 days/week by year-end. The office is located at WeWork Bellevue Place.
Key responsibilities include contributing to new product features, leading a team of engineers, translating business needs into software solutions, driving best practices, and assisting with feature delivery and issue resolution.
Qualifications include 3+ years of engineering management in an Agile environment, 7+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Rails and React, and familiarity with technologies like AWS, EKS, and Postgres. Understanding of Scrum, AI exposure, and experience with Docker and Git are also required.
The salary range is $160,000-$180,000 with comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and various other perks.

Responsibilities For Engineering Manager (Rails and React; player/coach)
- Contribute to the development of new product features
- Lead and mentor a team of internal and external engineers
- Translate customer features and business needs into software
- Drive best practices and development principles, understand key metrics, and finding ways for ongoing improvement
- Assist Engineering Leadership with Features delivery, managing timelines, and removing blockers to the Sprint goals
- Help reduce the Support backlog by identifying and eliminating the root cause of high impact issues
Requirements For Engineering Manager (Rails and React; player/coach)
- Previous engineering management and delivery position(s) in an Agile environment, preferably 3+ years; have built a high performing engineering team(s)
- 7+ years' software engineer experience
- Required: Rails and React
- Desired: AWS, EKS, Buildkite, Postgres, SQL, and Sidekiq
- Understanding of Scrum framework
- Exposure to AI
- Understanding of Docker containers and working with them in a development environment
- Using Git as a code repository and workflow
- Located in the Bellevue/Seattle-area; willing and able to meet the in-person expectations of 1-2 weeks each quarter for Technology Quarterly Planning and when the senior Engineering leaders are in-town at our WeWork space in Bellevue; be open to the potential future expectation of up to 3 days/week in-office
