Senior Server/Backend Software Engineer, Spry Fox Studio

Netflix's Spry Fox studio is seeking a Senior Server/Backend Software Engineer to help build an original, non-violent MMO. The role involves working with a small team of talented engineers on server and backend development, bringing players together and ensuring smooth operations. Spry Fox emphasizes making the world better through their games, focusing on fostering friendships and discouraging toxicity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Architecting backend services and game servers for a large-scale MMO
• Implementing core server systems like network replication and state persistence
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams on new game features
• Managing deployments and scaling across hundreds of machines
• Ensuring security of public services and game servers
• Designing systems to handle thousands of requests per second

Required qualifications:

• Experience shipping online multiplayer games with persistent state
• Strong C++ or Rust implementation skills for gameserver features
• Experience with scalable game services using Python, Rust, Go etc.
• Familiarity with AWS and relational databases
• Server/service load testing experience
• Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration

The compensation range is $100,000-$350,000 USD with comprehensive benefits including health plans, 401(k) matching, stock options, and flexible time off. This is a remote position open to candidates in the US, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil.
