Description For Analytics Engineer (Looker Development)

NLA media access is a prominent company managing intellectual property rights for UK publishing brands, overseeing 14,000+ newspaper and magazine titles from 300+ publishers. They're seeking an Analytics Engineer to join their technology department, focusing on developing and enhancing their business intelligence infrastructure using Looker and Retool.

The role combines technical expertise with business acumen, requiring proficiency in dbt models, data visualization, and dashboard creation. As part of a small team, you'll be instrumental in promoting Looker adoption across the organization while working remotely with quarterly office visits to their Royal Tunbridge Wells headquarters.

Key responsibilities include developing business intelligence solutions, creating custom visualizations, and serving as a subject matter expert for Looker and Retool. The position demands strong technical skills in Looker, LookML, dbt, SQL, and modern data warehousing solutions like BigQuery. JavaScript knowledge for custom visualizations is a plus.

Responsibilities For Analytics Engineer (Looker Development)

  • Develop and improve business intelligence landscape using Looker for dashboards and Retool for app building
  • Create new dashboards and custom visualizations
  • Serve as subject matter expert on Looker and Retool
  • Work with Business Analyst and wider business for UAT of dashboards and applications
  • Communicate results and statuses to users and programme managers
  • Develop and deliver system training as needed
  • Identify technical challenges and provide solutions for improvement

Requirements For Analytics Engineer (Looker Development)

JavaScript
  • Extensive Looker development experience and LookML
  • Extensive dbt experience with unit testing for SQL modeling logic
  • Hands-on experience with modern data warehouse like BigQuery
  • JavaScript knowledge for custom visualizations (bonus)
  • Experience with low code platforms like Retool (beneficial)
  • Experience with Jira and Agile environment
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Must be UK-based and eligible to work in the UK
