Description For Data Engineer (Junior)

In the next 30 years, the world will transform every part of the built environment to be climate positive green infrastructure. Knowing what, where, and how to build infrastructure like solar farms is one of the great opportunities of our time.

The Problem 80% of clean energy projects developers start never actually get built because most projects are started without deep due diligence on zoning and interconnection due to the cost of collecting that data. This means $17B worth of canceled projects per year.

Our Solution Paces is software for green infrastructure developers to identify the best places to build and manage their projects. First we collect environmental, permitting, zoning, energy grid data from various different sources; then we analyze the data and use AI to identify the best places for developers to build their next projects.

We're looking for a data engineer passionate about building robust data pipelines as we scale up. You'll be working on:

  • Designing and implementing scalable ETL data pipelines
  • Optimizing storage and retrieval systems
  • Ensuring data quality and security

Responsibilities For Data Engineer (Junior)

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable ETL data pipelines
  • Optimize storage and retrieval systems for performance and reliability
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the platform
  • Collaborate with CTO, Data Infra Lead, and Product Lead on product roadmap

Requirements For Data Engineer (Junior)

Python
  • Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, data structures, algorithms, and system design
  • Strong coding skills in Python, Rust, or Scala
  • Advanced SQL expertise
  • Experience with big data tools (e.g. Spark) and pipeline orchestration tools (e.g. Dagster, Airflow, Prefect)
  • Experience building data pipelines on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
