Paperpile is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to join their team in developing a new version of their mobile applications for iOS and Android. This role focuses on creating optimal experiences for researchers to interact with scientific articles on mobile devices. While the apps are built with React Native, the position specifically requires expertise in native mobile development to create advanced functionality modules and integrate PDF viewing capabilities.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in both iOS and Android native development, using Swift/ObjectiveC and Java/Kotlin. You'll be responsible for the complete app lifecycle, from development to app store submissions and SDK updates. While React Native experience is valuable, what's more important is your willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
This is a remote position offering significant flexibility and autonomy. You'll work in an agile environment where clean, efficient code and timely delivery are valued. The role presents an exciting opportunity to work on meaningful technology that serves the academic and research community, while handling complex technical challenges in mobile development.
The company offers an attractive benefits package including remote work flexibility, sponsored co-working spaces or home office setup, professional development opportunities through sponsored courses and conferences, 4 weeks of paid vacation, and an equity/bonus program. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior mobile engineer looking to make a significant impact in the academic software space while enjoying the benefits of remote work and a strong focus on professional growth.
The position requires someone who can work independently while maintaining strong communication with the team. You'll be tackling interesting technical challenges like background file downloads, inter-app communication, and data sharing, while ensuring the delivery of a seamless user experience for researchers working with scientific articles.
