Description For Build & Release Engineer

Pixar Animation Studios is seeking a talented Build and Release Engineer to join their Software R&D team. This role is crucial in creating, maintaining, and supporting tools for building Pixar's internally-developed software, deploying software releases to artists, and managing production software configurations post-deployment.

The team is expanding its scope to support Pixar's open source Universal Scene Description (USD) project. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in build systems for multi-platform open source software and enthusiasm for engaging with both the USD community and Pixar artists.

As a Build and Release Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and supporting internal software configuration & deployment tools, improving third-party dependency management systems, and extending continuous integration frameworks across multiple platforms. You'll work closely with R&D teams to enhance development workflows and provide direct support to both internal developers and the broader USD community.

The role requires strong technical skills including proficiency in Python, experience with Git and Perforce, and expertise in build tools like SCons, CMake, or Bazel. You should have demonstrated experience as a release engineer or DevOps engineer, particularly with Linux/macOS software development on large-scale products.

Working at Pixar means joining a studio with an incredible legacy of innovation in animation and technology. You'll be part of the team behind beloved films like Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., and Inside Out, contributing to the technical infrastructure that makes these creative achievements possible.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $131,495 to $170,170 per year, with the actual offer depending on factors such as geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Join us in Emeryville, California, and be part of creating the next generation of animation technology tools and workflows.
