Pixomondo (PXO), a Sony Pictures Entertainment company, is seeking an Unreal Engine Software Developer to join their innovative team. This role is crucial in leveraging Unreal Engine's capabilities for Virtual Production, VFX, and TV production. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with an Oscar, BAFTA, & Emmy-winning creative and technology company that has been behind iconic works like Hugo, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and John Wick: Chapter 4.

The role involves deep technical work with Unreal Engine, focusing on integration with proprietary Virtual Production pipelines, optimization, and serving as a technical bridge between development and production teams. You'll be working in a hybrid environment in Vancouver, contributing to cutting-edge virtual production technology used in major productions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in C++, Python, and graphics programming, combined with a deep understanding of Unreal Engine. You'll be part of a team that pushes the boundaries of virtual production technology, working with state-of-the-art LED volumes and proprietary tools.

This position offers competitive compensation ranging from 90,000 to 100,000 CAD (approximately 66,000-74,000 USD) and the opportunity to work with a company that has seven creative studios and three LED volumes across the US, UK, Germany, and Canada. The role provides a unique blend of software development and creative production, making it perfect for someone passionate about both technology and entertainment.

Responsibilities For Unreal Engine Software Developer

  • Integrating Unreal with Pixomondo's proprietary Virtual Production pipeline
  • Executing low-level rendering enhancements and performance optimizations in engine build
  • Serving as technical liaison for Unreal-related matters to VP artists/operators
  • Engaging in collaborative efforts with production stakeholders in agile development
  • Working with fellow developers to maximize Unreal use
  • Creating technical documentation and workflow guides
  • Validating work through systematic testing
  • Addressing bug reports and support requests

Requirements For Unreal Engine Software Developer

  • Strong grasp of Unreal Engine, from Blueprints to core C++ modules
  • Strong modern C++ skills (C++17/20)
  • Proficiency in modern Python and relevant frameworks and libraries
  • Familiarity with source control systems (git and perforce)
  • Proficiency in both Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Strong Linear Algebra skills
  • Experience with modern Graphics APIs such as D3D12 and Vulkan
  • Experience profiling, debugging and optimizing GPU and CPU code
  • Familiarity with shading languages HLSL/GLSL
