Microcontroller Sub-system Senior Design Engineer/ Staff Design Engineer - Cork, Ireland

Qualcomm is seeking a Microcontroller Sub-system Senior/Staff Design Engineer for their Cork, Ireland location. This role is part of the Microcontroller Sub-System IP team, which is crucial in enabling embedded processing solutions across various functions and products at Qualcomm. The team works on security, power management, and other SoC functions across multiple business units including IoT, Mobile, Auto, XR, and Compute.

The position requires a highly skilled engineer with at least 8 years of experience in ASIC design, with expertise in complex digital logic design, processor/microcontroller system design, and multi-power domain implementations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of ISAs like ARM THUMB or RISC-V, and proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Perl.

Key responsibilities include designing micro-architecture for digital blocks, developing RTL code, debugging issues during development, creating documentation, and optimizing designs for area, power, and performance. The role involves extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams including DFT, Implementation, Verification, Emulation, and Firmware teams.
