Description For Founding Backend Engineer - Airline Loyalty

Rove is revolutionizing the travel industry by building the first accessible and universal airline mile system that works across multiple international airlines and hotel chains worldwide. As a Founding Backend Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing the technology that powers award redemption and travel hacking capabilities.

The role combines deep technical expertise with a passion for travel hacking, focusing on developing and maintaining Rove's synthetic routing API and the Rove Miles travel portal. You'll be working with airline loyalty search APIs, managing points ledgers and transfers, and implementing robust cybersecurity measures to protect customer data.

Key technical aspects include working with Node.js, TypeScript, Python, and Supabase, while building and scaling complex API systems. The position requires both technical leadership and hands-on development, with opportunities to shape the company's technical direction and manage a growing team.

The ideal candidate should have a unique combination of technical expertise and travel industry knowledge, particularly in airline loyalty programs. You should be able to demonstrate experience with high-value award flight redemptions and have a deep understanding of travel hacking principles.

This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who wants to combine their passion for travel with technical innovation, working in a fast-paced startup environment. You'll be joining a small but growing team in New York, with the chance to make a significant impact on how people access and use airline miles globally.

Benefits include competitive compensation and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in the travel and fintech space. The role offers significant growth potential as the company expands, with the chance to build and lead a technical team from the ground up.
