Description For Lead Electrical Engineer (Starship Avionics)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for their Starship Avionics team at Starbase, TX. This role is crucial in developing the next generation of spacecraft technology, specifically focusing on highly integrated avionics components for the Starship program. The position offers a unique opportunity to work directly on hardware that will enable human space exploration and eventually life on Mars.

The role involves leading a team of electrical engineers in designing and developing critical electronics systems for rockets and spacecraft. You'll be responsible for the entire lifecycle of electrical components, from initial concept through to flight operations. The work environment is fast-paced and autonomous, requiring strong technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise across multiple electrical disciplines including RF, digital, analog, and video systems.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years of electronics design experience and 1 year of team leadership, along with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Strong skills in PCBA design using Altium, proficiency with various test equipment, and programming abilities in Python are essential. The position requires working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for efficiency, manufacturability, and reliability.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer who wants to make a direct impact on the future of space exploration. The role offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and the chance to work with some of the industry's best engineers. The position requires dedication, with possible extended hours and weekend work to support critical missions, and must comply with ITAR requirements.
