Description For Software Engineer, Data - Top Secret Clearance

SpaceX is revolutionizing space technology with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. As a Software Engineer in Special Programs, you'll be at the forefront of developing crucial data solutions for SpaceX's flight systems. This role focuses on designing and implementing full-stack solutions for analysis, simulation, and prototyping of software that directly supports all SpaceX flight systems.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects where you'll have full ownership of new features in a scalable high-performance web application used to control and test flight systems. You'll be working across engineering groups to build high-assurance systems that accelerate the development of cutting-edge software and hardware.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $120,000 to $170,000 per year, with an additional 10% differential (up to $15,000 annually) for those with active clearance. Beyond the base salary, SpaceX offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), stock options, and employee stock purchase programs.

What makes this role particularly exciting is the direct impact on SpaceX's mission-critical systems. While aerospace experience isn't required, the company seeks motivated software engineers who thrive on complex challenges and are passionate about maintaining high standards of excellence. You'll be working with modern technologies including Python, Java, React, and Kubernetes, developing data pipelines that are essential for future mission successes.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or engineering, along with at least one year of software development experience. An active Top Secret clearance is essential, as you'll be working on sensitive SpaceX missions. The position is based in Hawthorne, CA, where you'll be part of a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of space technology.
