SpaceX is seeking a Senior Power Components Engineer to join their Starship electrical hardware development team in Hawthorne, CA. This role is crucial in SpaceX's mission to revolutionize orbital flight and enable human life on Mars. The position involves developing cutting-edge electronics for space applications at unprecedented cost and production rates.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of power components, from design through qualification, including high-voltage batteries, traction inverters, and power distribution systems. Responsibilities For Sr. Power Components Engineer (Starship)

  • Serve as responsible engineer for design, analysis, fabrication, and qualification of high-voltage batteries, traction inverters, power generation, and distribution components
  • Perform thermal, structural, dynamic, and tolerance analysis using calculations and finite element analysis
  • Drive design requirements to mechanical design trades, 3D models, and production drawings
  • Interface with machine shops and production teams
  • Own hardware delivery timeline from inception through integration
  • Lead design reviews internally and with suppliers and customers
  • Ensure structural designs meet weight and rate targets

Requirements For Sr. Power Components Engineer (Starship)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical or electromechanical design and analysis
  • Strong first-principles understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Proficient in FEA and CAD
  • Domain knowledge of power component design fundamentals
  • Experience with high volume production designs
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Experience with PCB design
  • Must be willing to travel to Starbase launch facility
  • Must be eligible under ITAR requirements
