Description For Backend Engineer - Version Control systems

Spotify, the leading music streaming platform serving 1 Billion customers, is seeking a Backend Engineer to join their Platform Developer Experience (PDX) Studio within the Platform Mission. This role focuses on developing and maintaining Spotify's Version Control System (VCS) Platform, which is crucial for supporting their extensive engineering operations.

The position offers an opportunity to work on scaling and improving the VCS platform that serves over 3,000 engineers and handles thousands of daily releases. As part of the team, you'll be responsible for architecting, developing, and operating services that enhance the developer experience, with a particular focus on local development workflows and system integration.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Java development, with Node.js knowledge being a plus. Experience with Kubernetes and implementing large-scale systems is essential. The role requires someone who values iteration, standardization, and automation, with a strong focus on improving developer experience.

Working in London with a hybrid setup (3 days per week in office), you'll be part of a collaborative team that's tackling challenging technical problems at scale. Requirements For Backend Engineer - Version Control systems

  • Experience as a Software Engineer with Java
  • Experience with Node.js (bonus)
  • Experience deploying to and implementing solutions in Kubernetes
  • Focus on standardization and automation
  • 3+ years of experience in building large-scale systems
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices
  • Experience with testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
