Description For Engineer

Tavern Research, a venture-backed political tech startup, is seeking an Engineer to join their mission-driven team in Chicago. The role offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $120,000 plus equity, focusing on building tools and insights for election success and decision-making.

The position requires working from their South Loop office three days per week, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience and strong technical skills in Python, JavaScript, Docker, and Kubernetes, with experience in LLM deployment and infrastructure management.

The company values practical skills over formal credentials and welcomes candidates who are passionate about AI's real-world impact and can thrive in high-stakes environments.

The comprehensive benefits package includes premium health insurance, unlimited PTO, 401k matching, and equity. Tavern Research maintains an inclusive work environment and encourages applications from diverse candidates, even if they don't meet all listed qualifications.

As part of a fast-moving, mostly technical team, you'll be responsible for developing products, conducting code reviews, managing feature development, and working directly with clients. The role offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to make a real impact in the political technology space.
