Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer, Semi Truck Service Tooling
- Design and develop service tools, fixtures, and equipment for the Tesla Semi Truck
- Work hands on to build and test designs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify service tooling needs
- Work with design engineering teams to support evaluation of serviceability
- Apply expertise in manufacturing or repairing Class 8 trucks
- Design and develop tooling for other vehicle platforms
- Develop and maintain detailed design documentation
Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Semi Truck Service Tooling
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, or repair of Class 8 trucks
- Proficiency in CAD design tools, such as CATIA or SolidWorks
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for cost (DFC) principles
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and assembly
- Strong inclination for first principals' problem solving
