Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer, Semi Truck Service Tooling

  • Design and develop service tools, fixtures, and equipment for the Tesla Semi Truck
  • Work hands on to build and test designs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify service tooling needs
  • Work with design engineering teams to support evaluation of serviceability
  • Apply expertise in manufacturing or repairing Class 8 trucks
  • Design and develop tooling for other vehicle platforms
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Semi Truck Service Tooling

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, or repair of Class 8 trucks
  • Proficiency in CAD design tools, such as CATIA or SolidWorks
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for cost (DFC) principles
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and assembly
  • Strong inclination for first principals' problem solving
