Description For Software Developer, Web Internal Enablement (Coop) - W2025

theScore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PENN Entertainment, is seeking a Software Developer for their Web Internal Enablement team. This co-op position, running from January 6, 2025 to April 25, 2025, offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale consumer-facing applications with millions of users.

As a key member of the Web Internal Enablement team, you'll contribute to strengthening the ecosystem of products under the PENN brand, drive user acquisition through SEO, and support the development and maintenance of features for theScore's media sites. You'll work with cutting-edge frontend technologies like TypeScript, React, NextJS, and GraphQL, while also experimenting with new technologies to improve build and CI times.

The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design. You should be detail-oriented, curious, and love diving deep into the internals of different libraries. Great communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.

  • Work on multiple projects to strengthen the ecosystem of products under the PENN brand
  • Help drive user acquisition through SEO
  • Support the development and maintenance of features for theScore's media sites
  • Experiment with new technologies that will decrease build or CI times
  • Participate in the design, architecture, and delivery of new features in a collaborative agile/scrum environment
  • Improve feedback loops around accessibility, performance, visual regression and error monitoring
  • Collaborate with the team to define and improve internal style guide, maintainability and best practices for web applications
