Description For Senior Hardware Reliability & Test Engineer

At Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics, we're building the infrastructure that will power the next generation of retail experiences. We're the team behind Alphabot®, a new technology that's changing the way America shops. Our automated pickup and delivery systems use a combination of robotics and software to efficiently handle large volumes of online orders, streamlining operations for managers and enhancing the customer experience.

We're seeking a Senior Reliability Hardware Engineer responsible for ensuring the reliability and robustness of hardware components and systems throughout their lifecycle. You'll be part of a talented team of engineers, demonstrating technical competency and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, embedded engineers, and software engineers to effectively deliver products designed to meet customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform reliability testing and analysis on hardware components and systems
  • Develop and implement reliability test plans, procedures, and protocols
  • Develop test fixtures and automate data collection
  • Use data analytics to assess performance, longevity, scalability, etc.
  • Proactively engage with cross-functional teams to develop test strategies and execute plans
  • Analyze test data to identify failure modes, root causes, and potential reliability issues
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to improve hardware reliability
  • Conduct failure analysis and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions
  • Utilize reliability engineering tools and methodologies (FMEA, MTBF, FRACAS)
  • Prepare and present reliability reports and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in reliability engineering

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5-7 years of experience in hardware reliability engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding of reliability principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Cross-disciplinary engineering knowledge with experience driving cross-functional teams
  • Experience with reliability testing methods (environmental stress testing, accelerated life testing, HALT)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills to identify, evaluate, and demonstrate solutions to complex system problems
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability and testing processes
  • Ability to travel as needed to support testing and collaboration with other teams
