Description For Software Engineering Manager, Fintech & Loyalty

As a Software Engineering Manager in the Fintech & Loyalty team at Wayfair, you will lead a dynamic team pioneering cutting-edge financial technology and loyalty initiatives. You'll be responsible for enhancing customer experiences by developing seamless fintech solutions, ensuring secure transactions, and crafting innovative loyalty programs that foster lasting connections with customers.

Your role involves managing a team of 5-7 engineers, focusing on building services, integrations, and tools that power the F&L Business and its interactions with partners. You'll be accountable for the team's technical output and performance, mentoring engineers through various means, and working across the organization to create and leverage standard APIs.

Key responsibilities include constructing technical roadmaps, leading planning and delivery, partnering with product teams on roadmaps and KPIs, and continuously raising the bar from both technical and process perspectives. You'll play a crucial role in Wayfair's growth and solidifying its position as a leader at the intersection of fintech and customer loyalty in the e-commerce sector.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of software development experience, 4+ years managing high-performing engineering teams, and a strong background in computer science or related field. You should be adept at leading both greenfield and legacy projects, think creatively to improve processes and architecture, and possess excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities For Software Engineering Manager, Fintech & Loyalty

  • Lead and manage a team of 5-7 engineers focused on building services, integrations and tools powering F&L Business and its interactions with partners
  • Own the output of the team both from a technical and performance perspective
  • Mentor engineers in the team through training, coaching, code reviews, and 1:1 mentorship providing career and professional development for your staff
  • Work not only within your pod, but across F&L and wider Wayfair Eng. to create and leverage standard APIs
  • Accountable for the systems built by your team including technical design, development, test, monitoring, and deployment
  • Engage your team to construct the technical roadmap and lead planning, delivery and continuous improvement
  • Partner with product on defining roadmaps and ensure the team has a compelling mission with well defined KPIs to measure progress and success
  • Raise the bar from both a technical and process perspective

Requirements For Software Engineering Manager, Fintech & Loyalty

  • 6+ years of software development experience with strong familiarity in at least one programming language (PHP, Python, .NET, Javascript, Java, etc.) and relational databases (SQL Server, postgres, mysql, etc). Experience with GCP or AWS is a plus
  • 4+ years of experience managing a high performing engineering team
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven track record of leading green field and maintaining legacy projects
  • Ability to think creatively and find opportunities in processes, code and architecture to improve
  • A collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross functionally with design and product counterparts
