Description For Staff System Test Engineer

Wisk Aero is at the forefront of transforming urban mobility through their development of safe, all-electric, autonomous aircraft. As a Staff System Test Engineer in their Advanced Research and Development team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of urban air mobility.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement at their Mountain View and/or Hollister offices, requiring onsite presence 3 days per week. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering work, focusing on critical areas including flight test of autonomy technologies, new propulsion systems, and advanced concepts.

The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of experience in aircraft or large integrated systems, with a strong background in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering. You'll be responsible for creating and executing project plans, writing code, building harnesses, analyzing data, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. The role requires someone who can balance technical expertise with leadership skills, driving projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities For Staff System Test Engineer

  • Be part of the Advanced Research and Development organization as a Staff System Test Engineer
  • Take part in completion of R&D goals set by the CTO
  • Support mechanical/electrical integration and testing of hardware
  • Plan and support execution of ground and flight test activities
  • Post process data, debugging issues and writing reports
  • Work with Integrated Product Team leadership to develop test requirements and plans
  • Work closely with A&P mechanics, R&D engineers, Software Engineers, Flight Test Engineers, and Test Pilots
  • Create Mechanical Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) solid model and wiring diagrams

Requirements For Staff System Test Engineer

  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years experience in integration, evaluation, and testing of aircraft or large integrated systems
  • Leading the testing of aerospace and/or aviation systems and subsystems
  • Hands-on experience fabricating, integrating, and testing mechanical/electrical/electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong and applied knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical systems
  • Well rounded understanding of mechanical design, scientific method, electrical troubleshooting, digital signal processing
  • Experience leading successful test campaigns from planning through execution and reporting
