Xero, a leading financial software company, is seeking a Lead Engineer to join their Tooling team. This role focuses on owning, improving, and scaling core engineering tools used across the company. Responsibilities For Lead Engineer
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team
- Own and maintain infrastructure for key internal tools
- Build and evolve automation and integrations for CI/CD workflows
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform
- Partner with engineering teams to embed tooling into pipelines
- Lead initiatives to uplift monitoring and observability
- Write and maintain documentation
- Contribute to on-call rotation and incident resolution
- Champion DevOps best practices
- Drive adoption of tools and enable self-service
Requirements For Lead Engineer
- Proven experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or internal platform tooling
- Strong background in cloud architecture and Infrastructure as Code
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline concepts and distributed version control
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language
- Experience managing or integrating engineering tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience writing internal documentation
