Xero is seeking a Principal Engineer to join their Inventory team, working across New Zealand and America. This role involves leading a significant uplift of their legacy stack and coordinating complex changes across multiple teams. The position requires expertise in C#/.NET and modern development practices, with a focus on technical leadership and mentoring. The successful candidate will work with Lead Engineers and other Principal Engineers, collaborating closely with Engineering Managers and Product teams. They'll be responsible for implementing engineering standards, improving processes, and ensuring quality delivery. Responsibilities For Principal Engineer - Inventory
- Work on multi-team initiatives to improve software creation and delivery
- Design and author code, driving proof of concepts and solving technical problems
- Promote quality engineering strategy and standards
- Implement practices and tooling for preventing issues
- Create and promote engineering standards and frameworks
- Maintain and share knowledge of development technologies
- Ensure deployment pipelines are fit for purpose
- Coach and develop others in agile and delivery practices
Requirements For Principal Engineer - Inventory
- Well versed with C#/.NET and modern development practices
- Some exposure to PHP (not essential)
- Ability to review delivery and production metrics
- Experience in developing techniques to quantify technical debt
- Ability to design automated processes and tooling
- Extensive technical leadership experience on cloud-native platforms
- Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers across multiple disciplines
