How To Get Real Feedback So You Can Actually Improve

  • Let the other person know that you treat all feedback as a gift and really appreciate constructive criticism.
  • Schedule a 1:1 with crucial people in your org/team to get feedback. It can be every 1 to 3 months. Make it clear that it's a feedback meeting.
  • It's important to understand the feedback giver's perspective. Nice people, those you are (hopefully) working with, are going to hold back often by default to shield you. This is why you need to make it clear that you really appreciate honesty and transparency.
