AI’s impact on the job market?

One of the things I wanted to ask is although AI probably won’t eliminate the need for software engineers entirely, will it still cause the number of software engineering jobs to go down? Software engineering before 2023 was expected to be one of the fastest growing fields but will AI prevent that with how advanced it is getting?

It's really hard to predict the future on this. So much about the technology and the world will change in ways that we probably can't even imagine.
- The bull case is that AI will make software even more ubiquitous than it is now, so there could be 5-10x more engineers needed (or at least people who can put code and AI together)
- The bear case is that AI will do all the work for us, so only a few managers/orchestrators are required.
