Some job ads have requirements like these:

  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Excellent communication skills

As a candidate applying for the job, do you need to address such requirements in your CV? How?

Most recruiters and hiring managers only scan your resume for 30 seconds to one minute. Most of the time, they look for core skills required to do the job.

Soft skills are mostly assessed in the interview process. If your CV, highlight your unique set of skills and experiences that make you stand out from 100 CVs the hiring manager is reviewing.

You don't put these on your resume.

If you did have a sentence around how you're "a high motivated self-starter with excellent communication", you fall into the classic trap of telling and not showing. Instead, these traits are assessed during interviews through storytelling.
