Description For Systems Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major advancement in utility computing. This role is part of the AWS Managed Operations team, focusing on building and leading operations for high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock specifically for EU customers. The position involves working with the global AWS teams to launch ESC in 2025, influencing service evolution, and ensuring optimal performance.

As a Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for monitoring operational health, identifying issues, and improving system efficiency. The role requires participation in on-call rotations and collaboration with technology leaders to enhance service reliability and customer experience. You'll work on creating and improving operational procedures, troubleshooting complex systems, and sharing knowledge about the European Sovereign Cloud.

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025
  • Work closely with global AWS teams

Requirements For Systems Engineer, Managed Operations

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems
  • Proficient leading the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs)
  • Proficient driving operational best practices
  • Proficient scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or Ruby
  • Proficient troubleshooting and anticipating problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems
