Recently securing $20M in Series A funding, they're developing Raden, an innovative AI Agent for automated data spend optimization and operations across major cloud providers.
The Lead Backend Engineer role presents a unique opportunity to join an early-stage startup at the intersection of cloud, data, and AI. This position combines hands-on technical leadership with team management responsibilities, working directly with the founders to shape the company's technical direction.
As the Lead Backend Engineer, you'll be responsible for architecting and implementing scalable backend services, making crucial technical decisions, and leading a team of engineers. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and a proven track record of technical leadership with 8+ years of experience in backend development.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge in backend fundamentals, experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and familiarity with modern development tools including containers and orchestration systems. Additional experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks) and both SQL/NoSQL systems is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Lead Backend Engineer
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable backend services for SaaS platform
- Own technical decisions across distributed systems, cloud-native workflows, and backend infrastructure
- Drive performance, reliability, and observability initiatives across core platform components
- Guide and mentor a growing team of backend engineers
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, frontend, and DevOps teams
- Make foundational decisions around backend technologies and system design
- Establish and enforce best practices in software engineering
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and fostering engineering culture
- Stay on top of industry trends and help set technical roadmap
Requirements For Lead Backend Engineer
- 8+ years of backend development experience (Java, Golang, C++, or similar languages)
