Description For Product Manager, Google Maps Directions Experience

Google Maps is seeking a Product Manager for their Directions Experience team. This role is crucial in shaping the future of Google Maps' navigation features. The ideal candidate will lead the development of user-centric features, collaborate with internal and external teams, and drive UI and infrastructure improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying and developing features that address core user needs in directions
  2. Enhancing the overall Directions experience through cross-team collaboration
  3. Leading UI and infrastructure upgrades for a scalable platform
  4. Partnering with engineering to improve performance and reliability
  5. Addressing critical bugs and feature requests

The role requires a balance of technical knowledge, business acumen, and strong communication skills. The Product Manager will work closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to guide products from conception to launch.

Responsibilities For Product Manager, Google Maps Directions Experience

  • Identify and develop features focusing on core user needs and new use cases in directions, taking users' preferences and context into account
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to enhance the overall Directions experience
  • Lead UI and infrastructure upgrades to ensure a scalable and future-proof platform
  • Partner with engineering to improve latency, UI scalability, and reliability through incremental enhancements
  • Address critical bugs and feature requests to maintain a high-quality user experience

Requirements For Product Manager, Google Maps Directions Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in product management or related technical role
  • 1 year of experience taking technical products from conception to launch
  • Experience in designing products in maps or transportation systems (preferred)
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, design, research, and other stakeholders (preferred)
  • Experience in consumer facing products and features development (preferred)
  • Ability to balance technical, business, and organizational perspectives
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and investigative skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
