How to draw explanation of a Graph or Tree problem in Google Document Interview?

I want to figure out how to draw explanations in Google Docs efficiently:

  • I only find these resources if there is a mock interview recording.
  • But is there a standard way to communicate with the interviewer?
  • I struggle a lot in this area - Even though I know the solution, I get stuck

Do you have to use Google Docs? It feels like a bad tool for the job if your intent is to draw a graph or tree.

I've used tools like OmniGraffle or Excalidraw. Can you just ask the interviewer if you can switch over to that window, or at least paste the image from those programs into the GDoc?

You should clarify this with the recruiter well before the interview.

Rahul, How are these interviews for advanced topics conducted in the big tech if it is an online interview?
Since, for visualization, a whiteboarding tool might be required.

OP, sorry for the (very) late reply! My experience is that anything with visualization or diagramming is always a bit clunky with online interview formats.

The thing to remember is that all candidates will have the same struggle to communicate and, e.g. draw boxes in Google Docs. So as long as you don't feel like you're being unfairly hurt in the online format, I'd just do some mock interviews with this format in mind.
